Duties: Works with client manager/VP to develop a draft research project plan based on engagement scope of work. Conducts interviews with key market participants and subject matter experts to address research scope. May be required to develop tools or frameworks for modeling key aspects of organizations being researched by Maia Strategy Group (e.g., financial performance, sales force size and structure, R&D investments). Communicate research objectives that have been set by the client manager/VP to members of the research team. Periodically checks in with research team members to trouble-shoot issues and provide peer mentorship and experience-based guidance as needed. Periodically report research engagement progress to the client manager/VP. Coordinates aggregation of research findings from different team members into draft deliverables for further review by client manager/VP. Provides initial feedback and copy-editing on research reports for further review by client manager/VP. Takes a lead role in presenting the team’s findings to clients on regular research update teleconferences. Maintains technical and subject matter expertise on developing topics and emerging areas of interest for clients within key industries served by Maia Strategy Group (e.g., healthcare IT, InsurTech). Participates in/contributes to team training exercises led/coordinated by Maia Strategy senior leadership.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Journalism, Finance, or related field plus 2 years of experience. Requires 1 year of experience conducting business-to-business (B2B) primary market research (in-person and telephone-based interviews with subject-matter experts). 1 year of experience synthesizing and communicating critical information and insights on complex or technical subject matter. 6 months of experience coordinating deliverable creation/aggregation on team-based research assignments for Fortune 500 senior executive audiences. 6 months of experience developing and executing research project plans (for self) with limited oversight from supervisor(s). 3 months of experience in competitive intelligence or closely related field (e.g., investigative journalism, market intelligence) requiring interviews and/or information exchange with non-compensated primary research sources. Requires multiple trips per month to only 1-2 trips per year to US-based client business offices and global conferences. Telecommuting is permitted up to 2 days per week.
